Some entries are polished essays or stories, while others are fragments, reflections, or drafts that capture a moment of thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much of my writing centres on communication \u2014 the field I work in \u2014 and the importance of choosing the right words, at the right time, with the right tone, especially across cultures and countries. Living in Patagonia as a foreigner shapes many of these reflections. I often write about language, women\u2019s perspectives, and small field notes on culture and everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I\u2019m not writing, I\u2019m teaching, consulting, or spending time with my kids. I\u2019m partial to stormy oceans, starry skies, a good book, and mornings softened by coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You\u2019ll Find Here<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On Ulmo Journal, you might find:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Essays and reflections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Short creative pieces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Writing experiments and drafts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Portfolio pieces I\u2019m proud of<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notes or ideas that may grow into larger work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Think of it as a <strong>living notebook<\/strong> \u2014 one that\u2019s open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why \u201cUlmo\u201d?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The ulmo tree is native to southern Chile, and when it flowers in summer, it transforms the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I chose the name because it has quietly become my favourite tree\u2014something I look forward to each year. It belongs to Patagonia, and over time, it has become something I love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This site returns often to questions of roots, belonging, the feminine gaze, and resilience.
