About

Ulmo Journal is a writing space — part portfolio, part creative practice.

It explores communication, identity, and contemporary life through the lens of language — shaped in part by life in Patagonia and by living between cultures and languages.

Rooted in language, place, and lived experience, it brings together essays, editorial writing, stories, and reflections shaped by attention: to words, to land, and to the ways we connect, communicate, and belong.

Why “Ulmo”?

The ulmo tree, native to southern Chile and Patagonia, blooms in midsummer and transforms the landscape with fragrant white blossoms. Deeply rooted in place and evocative of belonging, its name felt like a fitting reference for the themes this space explores.
